Object of the Month: David Johnson's Natural Bridge, Virginia
Object of the Month shines a spotlight on a selected piece from Reynolda’s permanent collection. This month, join Reynolda curator Allison Slaby for a closer look at Natural Bridge, Virginia (1860), an oil painting by Hudson River School artist David Johnson. Now recognized as a National Historic Landmark, the natural arch in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley became the subject for the painting that showcases Johnson’s ability to capture the American landscape.
Program takes place in the Charles Babcock, Jr Auditorium at Reynolda House; museum admission is included.
